Making a TD5 MSB EU2 ECU programmable!

Many Defender TD5 Owners like the idea having their engine modified or tuned, however this is limited to the P15 Engines with the famous EU3 TD5 ECUs. Those ECUs can easily be identified by the Type number starting with a NNN prefix.
These ECUs are equipped with a flash memory chip which can be re-programmed with special gear and software.

The TD5 EU2 P10 engine comes with an earlier version of this ECU which contains a so called OTP ROM (One Time Programmable Read Only Memory). They can be identified by the prefix MSB.
This should easily explain that all Settings (Firmware & Map) are factory programmed and can’t be modified afterwards.

However….

Time to modify

To overcome this limitation we can modify your MSB EU2 ECU by removing the OTP ROM and replace it with a suitable Flash Memory. Together with the matching software your original data is then installed into the new memory and your ECU becomes fully programmable via your vehicle OBD port.

The only thing you need is an inexpensive USB to OBD Interface, which we can provide as well. The Software to read / modify & write data from and to your new ECU comes free of charge and very easy to use.

This gives you all the freedom for your MSB ECU you might have been looking for!

Probably no DIY job…

Modifying the ECU is a delicate task. The electronics are covered under a layer of silicone, which isn’t easy to remove but has to.
Removing the chips from a 20 year old PCB needs to be done carefully. Programming of the new chip and installing into the ECU also needs special equipment.
Our lab is perfectly equipped for this kind of work and therefore we can offer this service with a turnaround time of typically one working day.
